YouTube Music has introduced a groundbreaking new feature that makes song discovery easier than ever. Called Hum-to-Search, this feature allows users to find songs not by title or lyrics, but by their melody. Users can simply hum, sing, or play a tune to identify a track.
From Google Search to YouTube Music
The Hum-to-Search feature first debuted in Google Search in 2020 and is now making its way to YouTube Music, as reported by Android Authority on Tuesday (May 28, 2024). Initially tested as part of a YouTube experiment, it is now officially rolled out to Android users of the YouTube Music app.
How Hum-to-Search Works
To use this feature, open the YouTube Music app and tap the magnifying glass search icon in the top-right corner. Next to the microphone icon, a wave-shaped icon appears. Tap this icon to open a colored search page, then hum, sing, or play the melody of the song.
Google’s AI-powered search will then identify the song that matches the user’s melody. The feature supports multiple languages, including English and Indian languages, with plans to expand its capabilities to detect even more songs across diverse languages.
Availability and Future Plans
Currently, Hum-to-Search is available for Android users running YouTube Music version 7.02. iPhone users can expect the feature to roll out soon.
