Are you the type of user who often delays updating your Windows OS? If so, now is the perfect time to update Windows on your laptop.

Last week, Microsoft patched a critical vulnerability affecting Windows 11 and Windows 10. This security flaw could put your PC or laptop at risk when connected to public WiFi networks.

According to The Verge, Friday (June 21, 2024), as reported by The Register, the vulnerability identified as CVE-2024-30078 can be exploited by hackers through malicious packets sent to devices connected to the same WiFi network. This includes public WiFi at airports, coffee shops, hotels, or even offices.

Once exploited, attackers could execute remote commands and gain system access without any user interaction or authentication. Microsoft released a patch as part of its monthly security updates on June 11, 2024.

The company has labeled this vulnerability as “Important”, the highest severity rating Microsoft assigns for security risks.

Even if you don’t plan to use public WiFi soon, it’s highly recommended not to delay installing this security patch to keep your system safe from potential attacks.
