Google Vids: An AI-Powered Video Creation Tool for Workspace Users

Google Vids is one of the key innovations introduced during Google Cloud Next 2024. This new service is designed specifically for Google Workspace users.
AI is at the core of Google Cloud’s product development this year, including Google Vids. In essence, Google Vids is an AI-driven Workspace feature that helps users create videos more easily.
Powered by Gemini AI—already integrated across Workspace—Google Vids allows users to generate videos based on prompts they provide.
Google explains that Google Vids can assist users through the entire video creation process, from scriptwriting and production to editing.
According to the company, Google Vids can be used to create videos for various needs, ranging from product promotions to internal corporate communications.
Beyond video creation, Google Workspace VP of Product Management, Yulie Kwon Kim, highlighted another major advantage of Google Vids: its enhanced collaboration capabilities.
“We’re bringing the collaborative power of Docs, Sheets, and Slides into video creation for businesses—something other video editing software cannot offer,” Yulie told Tekno Liputan6.com at Google Cloud Next 2024.
Thanks to this collaborative functionality, team members can provide feedback, comments, and even additional data or information directly within the video project—making the production process more efficient.
Yulie also noted that users will be able to incorporate their own data or files when creating videos. Additionally, Google provides a collection of stock photos, videos, and audio that users can utilize.
Regarding copyright concerns, Yulie confirmed that Google’s provided stock assets comply with copyright requirements. However, if users include external content that may violate copyright rules, responsibility falls outside Google’s scope.
Google Vids is expected to be available for users of Gemini for Google Workspace. Initially, the service will roll out to Google Workspace Labs testers in June 2024.
