Google Upgrades Gemini AI with New Memory Feature to Recall Specific User Information
Google has introduced a new feature designed to enhance the capabilities of its AI chatbot, Gemini AI. The feature—reportedly named Memory—will allow Gemini to remember specific user details, enabling more intuitive and personalized conversations in the future.
The Memory feature arrives as Google’s response to a similar function launched by ChatGPT in February 2024. According to reports, Gemini’s new feature will roll out within the next few days.
According to a post shared by tipster Dylan Roussel on X/Twitter, Google plans to call this feature Memory. He also shared screenshots showcasing how the feature is introduced in the Gemini app.
Rumors about the Memory feature first surfaced last year when a 9to5Google report highlighted Google’s efforts to add long-term contextual memory to its chatbot.
The Memory feature is believed to be part of several new AI enhancements coming to Gemini in the weeks ahead.
Based on the shared screenshots, users will be able to tell Gemini to remember details such as their place of residence, occupation, education, and even health history.
Impressively, Gemini will store this information and tailor its responses based on the user’s personal details in future conversations.
For example, if a user has a peanut allergy and asks Gemini AI for an easy sandwich recipe, the system will avoid recommending anything that contains peanuts.
One screenshot includes a description stating, “Gemini remembers the information you share in chats—such as your interests and preferences—so you don’t have to repeat yourself.”
This suggests that Gemini will actively use shared user information to deliver customized answers, recommendations, and interactions.
