Google to Rebrand Bard as Gemini

Google appears to be preparing a major rebrand of its artificial intelligence (AI) technology, known as Bard.

According to reports, Google plans to rename Bard—its AI platform introduced in October 2023. The information was revealed by X user @evowizz.

Citing a post by Dylan Roussel (@evowizz) shared via Engadget on Monday (February 4, 2024), Google Bard will soon be rebranded as Gemini, the AI model announced by Google in December 2023.

The Android app developer also mentioned that Google is planning to introduce a paid tier for users who want access to the full set of features in Gemini.

In addition, the search giant is reportedly preparing to launch the Gemini app for Android devices in the near future.

Based on documents shared by Dylan, the Gemini Advanced service will give users access to the Gemini Ultra 1.0 model.

Gemini Ultra 1.0 is said to have advanced capabilities for handling complex tasks, including coding, logical reasoning, following diverse instructions, and enabling creative collaboration.

Google plans to roll out the Gemini Ultra 1.0 AI model to more than 150 countries, with initial optimization focused on understanding English.
