Google Expands Gemini AI Integration, Set to Connect With YouTube Music
Google is reportedly preparing to integrate YouTube Music with its Gemini AI platform, according to an early report from Android Authority.
Citing information from 9to5Google on Friday (May 10, 2024), this integration was discovered through a new option that allows users to link YouTube Music with Gemini. The option appeared in the latest update of the Google app on Android.
With this integration, users will be able to rely on Gemini to access and search for songs, manage playlists, and control playback within YouTube Music.
For reference, Google previously enabled Gemini integrations across several other services, including Flights, Hotels, Maps, Workspace productivity apps, and YouTube.
Although the leak confirms its existence, the YouTube Music–Gemini integration has not yet been officially released. Reports suggest it will be available through the Extensions menu in the Gemini interface.
Google has been actively working to make Gemini AI more accessible to users. Recently, the tech giant began rolling out direct Gemini access within Google Chrome.
Through this new feature, Chrome users can launch Gemini directly from the browser’s address bar—a capability that has been in testing since mid-April 2024.
The feature is now rolling out to general users. Its availability was announced via the official Google Chrome Twitter account.
“Start a chat with Gemini quickly using a shortcut in the Chrome desktop address bar,” Chrome wrote in its official post. This feature is available on the latest stable version, Chrome 124.
