Google Chrome to Receive 3 New Generative AI Features — Here’s the Full List Images

Google is preparing to roll out three new generative AI features in Chrome.

Parisa Tabriz, Vice President of Chrome, announced through Google’s official blog on Saturday (January 27, 2024) that these AI-powered features will launch first in the United States for Mac and Windows PCs.

The generative AI tools will arrive in Google Chrome version M121, designed to make browsing easier, more efficient, and more personalized.

Users will be able to access these features by opening Settings from Chrome’s three-dot menu and navigating to Experimental AI, once available.

For now, the generative AI features will not be released to enterprise or education accounts, as they are still in the early public testing phase.

Here are the three new generative AI features coming to Google Chrome:

1. Smart Tab Organization

Previously, organizing tab groups had to be done manually. With Tab Organizer, Chrome will automatically suggest and create tab groups based on the tabs users already have open.

This feature is especially useful when multitasking—whether planning a trip, researching topics, or shopping online.

Once released, users can simply right-click a tab and select “Organize Similar Tabs”, or click the dropdown arrow on the left side of the tab bar.

2. Create Custom Themes With AI

Google has already introduced generative AI wallpapers on Android 14 devices and the Pixel 8. Now, the same text-to-image model is coming to Chrome to help users personalize their browser even more.

Users will be able to quickly generate custom themes based on a chosen subject, mood, visual style, or color palette. To use it, open the Customize Chrome panel, click Change theme, and select Create with AI.

3. AI-Assisted Draft Writing on the Web

In a future Chrome update, Google will release an experimental AI tool to help users write more confidently on any website.

When this AI feature becomes available, users can right-click on any text box within Chrome and choose “Help me write” to generate or improve a draft.
