Assassin’s Creed Shadows Trailer Reveals Two New Assassins and Official Release Date
Ubisoft has unveiled the first trailer for its newest entry in the Assassin’s Creed franchise, titled Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
This long-awaited Assassin’s Creed installment finally takes players to Japan in the year 1579, introducing two main protagonists for the upcoming game.
In Assassin’s Creed Shadows, players will meet Naoe, a female Shinobi—known as a kunoichi—from the legendary Iga clan.
The second protagonist is a samurai named Yasuke, known in history as the first African warrior who served under the powerful warlord Oda Nobunaga.
The trailer showcases Yasuke’s attack on the Iga village, home to Naoe and her clan members. Although the two characters initially clash, Naoe and Yasuke eventually join forces and become part of the same assassin faction known as “Shadows.”
For longtime Assassin’s Creed fans, the dual-protagonist concept may feel familiar, as Ubisoft previously used a similar approach in Assassin’s Creed Syndicate.
Aside from introducing its two lead characters, Ubisoft also revealed key world-building elements such as dynamic environments influenced by five seasonal variations and a large open-world map. However, the company has yet to showcase official gameplay footage.
Before its official reveal on Thursday, May 16, 2024, Ubisoft had already confirmed back in 2022 that it was developing a new AC project under the codename Assassin’s Creed Red.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows is scheduled to launch on PlayStation, Xbox, Windows PC, and Mac on November 15, 2024.
