Google Adds Biometric Security Method for Purchase Confirmation on Google Play
Buying apps or games through Google Play is now becoming more secure. Google has implemented a biometric security method to confirm transactions made on the platform.
This update is especially helpful for users who frequently make in-app or game purchases on Google Play.
It also addresses common incidents where parents end up with large credit card bills after children easily purchase game diamonds or other items on the app store.
According to an email sent by Google to users and a report from Gizchina on Monday (April 15, 2024), the biometric security activation applies to smartphones that support biometric authentication.
When users enable biometric verification, they will be required to confirm transactions using their chosen biometric method whenever they make a purchase through Google Play.
“To keep your account secure, enable biometric verification for every purchase,” Google Play wrote in an email to its customers.
Google Play also advises users to avoid sharing their accounts with others to maintain optimal security.
