YouTube Music Rolls Out New Feature: Search for Songs by Humming
YouTube Music has reportedly launched a new feature that lets users search for songs simply by humming.
According to Android Police, Monday (March 18, 2024), the feature was discovered by a YouTube Music user on iOS. It can be identified through a new icon appearing in the search bar.
Based on the user’s experience, the YouTube Music app now includes an additional icon next to the search field. Besides the microphone icon for voice search, there is now another icon that allows users to search for songs by humming.
However, this humming-to-search capability has not yet rolled out to all YouTube Music users. Google appears to be releasing it gradually to a limited number of users.
For context, the ability to search for songs by humming is not entirely new for Google. The feature first launched in 2020 through Google Search.
Last year, Google also introduced the same humming-based search feature on the YouTube app for Android, though availability was limited to select devices.
On YouTube, users can access the feature by tapping the microphone button next to the search bar.
Once opened, two options will appear: the Voice tab for basic voice search, and the Song tab, which lets users hum the tune to identify the song.
