How to Transfer Photos from Google Photos to Google Gallery Images

Today’s smartphones have become multifunctional devices, and one of their most popular uses is photography.

Many people prefer capturing moments with their smartphones because modern smartphone cameras are highly capable and deliver impressive results.

In addition to powerful camera features, users also have various options for storing photos, including cloud backups.

A few years ago, Google introduced the Auto Backup feature in Google Photos.

Auto Backup allows users to upload photos and videos quickly and easily to the cloud directly from an Android device.

However, this feature has one limitation: users can only store up to 15GB of photos and videos for free.

Once the cloud storage reaches 15GB, users can no longer use Auto Backup.

While upgrading to a Google One plan can provide more storage, many users simply consider this option unnecessary.

If you find yourself in this situation, you can store and manage your photos and videos directly on your smartphone using Google Gallery.

According to GizChina (Thursday, February 22, 2024), Google Gallery has become a popular alternative for storing images and videos and is now one of the best gallery apps available on the Google Play Store.

How to Transfer Photos from Google Photos to Google Gallery

If you want to make your photos accessible offline in Google Gallery, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Google Photos app on your smartphone.

  2. Make sure you’re logged in to the same Google account where your photos are stored.

  3. Once the app is open, you will see all the images saved in Google Photos.

  4. Select the photo you want to download to Google Gallery, tap the three vertical dots in the top-right corner, and choose Download.

  5. To download multiple photos, select and hold several images, then tap the Download button.

  6. After a moment, all downloaded photos will appear in Google Gallery. You can manage them directly through the Google Gallery app.

Downloaded photos can also be accessed using your file manager.

You can additionally move the downloaded photos or videos to an SD card or transfer them to a PC via a USB cable.

There is also an alternative method to save your Google Photos files to a PC or Mac.

Before you start, make sure your device has enough storage space.

  1. Open your Google Account page and click “Data & Personalization.”

  2. Scroll down and click “Download Your Data.”

  3. Scroll until you find the Google Photos option and select it.

  4. Scroll down again and click Next Step.

  5. Choose your preferred method to download Google Photos from the dropdown menu.

  6. Select the file type you want. For compatibility, it’s recommended to download using the .zip option.

  7. Choose the file size limit from the dropdown. For best results, select the largest size available—make sure your computer has enough storage space.

  8. A download link for your Google Photos archive will be sent to your email.

The process of generating the download link may take some time, usually a few days, depending on the size of your data.
