Threads Expands Keyword Search Feature to More Countries and Languages

Threads, Instagram’s microblogging platform, is now expanding its keyword search feature to more countries and across all languages. Previously available only in select regions, the feature will now be accessible to all users globally.

According to Gadgets 360 on Wednesday (December 6, 2023), the keyword search function was initially tested among Threads users in a few English-speaking countries. It later rolled out to additional English- and Spanish-speaking regions.

Although the feature is now widely available, Threads says that more improvements are on the way, though specific details have yet to be revealed.

Keyword Search Expected to Support Trending Topics in the Future

The keyword search feature is expected to serve as an important stepping stone for Threads as it works toward introducing support for trending topics, a capability already available on competing platforms such as X (formerly Twitter).

Threads previously also rolled out a feature allowing users to delete their Threads account without affecting their Instagram account.

To delete a Threads account, users can go to Settings, select Account, choose Delete or Deactivate Profile, and then select Delete.

Deactivating will temporarily hide the user’s profile, posts, likes, and followers until they reactivate their account on Threads.

Choosing Delete, however, will permanently remove the account. User profiles, content, likes, and followers will first be hidden, then permanently deleted after 30 days.
